Welcome To The Design Quad
Our studio is located in the North River Canal District in downtown Salem, MA, just steps away from the commuter rail station. Our bright and versatile space, formerly a mid-century car dealership, has been reinvented into a dynamic hub for our design studio, innovation workshop, and gallery.
Affectionately known as the "Yellow Submarine," our second building is emerging as an "artist’s first" space. We envision it as a vibrant venue for community gatherings and creative placemaking opportunities.
The expansive area of the former parking lot now serves multiple purposes, including mock-up production, material testing, events, and public engagement. Over the past several years we have been replacing sections of asphalt with trees and other plantings to create a green corridor for commuters making their daily passage through our lot to the train station.
One of the events that we’re extremely proud of is our annual free community plant swap which we host in our parking lot in June. The plant swap event is designed to foster community engagement within our neighborhood by bringing people together to exchange plants, engage in meaningful conversation, and learn about the benefits of landscape design.

About the Renovation
The transformation of a mid-century auto dealership into our new design studio and gallery has re-energized a vintage building in downtown Salem.
Take a look at the various stages of the process where formerly dark, decrepit and moldy spaces have evolved into a bright, sun-filled context for design and exploration.

Work With Us
We are always interested in connecting with energetic and ambitious individuals who are interested in working at our firm. Our work is generated from a dialogue between analogue systems of making: sketch, constructed multi-point perspectives, physical modeling, etc. and the highly ethereal realm of Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, AutoCAD, etc. Applicants must be ready to discuss their particular skill sets in the context of how those skills may contribute to this dialogue, the larger goals of the studio and to the existing fabric of the studio team.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, relevant <10MB portfolio work to:
office@landworks-studio.com.
