The Neighborhood Landing (Dadong Site A Temporary) | Taichung, Taiwan
Another in a series of interim urban landscapes in Taichung, Taiwan, designed by Landworks Studio is the "Neighborhood Landing." The Landing is a public park created to provide a comfortable open space within a densely populated neighborhood, occupying the footprint of a former shuttered department store. Serving as a temporary solution before the site’s redevelopment into a mixed-use project, the park offers the community an inviting green space.
The Landing is an active space designed to accommodate both daytime and evening programs. It restores and enhances connectivity between public pedestrian corridors and local retail areas, which had previously been severed by the former building.
The project was developed with careful consideration of its temporary nature, employing methods, resources, and design strategies tailored to a lifespan of approximately 24 months. The result is a vibrant, functional space that fosters community activity and engagement during its transitional phase.
