Earlier this year, Landworks Studio in partnership with Kuth Ranieri Architects received the commission from the Town of Eastham, MA for the Rock Harbormaster Building and Revitalization Project. This exciting coastal project will be the first collaboration between Landworks and Kuth Ranieri, who recently opened a Boston Regional Office in addition to their headquarters in San Francisco, CA.
The new Harbormaster building will reflect the vernacular architecture of cubic forms, cedar shingles, and natural materials typical to the Cape. It will also feature a small office space, greeting area and observation porch.
Landworks Studio will lead the site revitalization design portion of the project, taking careful consideration of the surrounding wetlands, local ecology and the impending threats of climate change and sea level rise.
In a place of such surpassing beauty as Rock Harbor, Landworks and Kuth Ranieri share the philosophy for a place-based architecture and landscape design approach for this particular project. Our intention for this project is to develop a design that fosters a sustainable and harmonious relationship with its local context; one that highlights the richness of the site, and does all it can to ensure an abiding and cooperative relationship between built and natural formations.
