Landworks Studio is pleased to announce the promotion of Wei-Chun Hsu to Project Manager for the Taipei office.
Wei-Chun joined Landworks Studio in 2022 and has led several ongoing projects in China. As a student, Wei-Chun received several honors, including the outstanding paper award from the Journal of Outdoor Recreation Study and other prizes in drawing and research. These experiences led her to pursue a career as a landscape architect. Wei-Chun has experience leading teams through all design phases and has worked with the Taipei team to complete various projects such as mixed-use, commercial, and residential towers.
What do you find most interesting about landscape design?
For me, landscape design is not just about design but more about an integration with the natural environment. I have a deep understanding of the natural environment and urban fabric and how to balance the relationship between the two, an essential skill for a designer. My training in landscape design has made me understand the importance of broad vision and logical thinking. Constantly switching between rationality and sensibility is a somewhat contradictory but exciting process.
What is an achievement about the Taipei office you are proud of?
I am fortunate that some of the designs we produced for the Snow Brewery project have already been completed. Within a short time crunch, the US and Taipei offices made a big push to complete this project. Watching the base develop from scratch gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Each stage was filled with intensive discussions and meetings with various consultants. After overcoming construction difficulties and on-site design adjustments, I am thrilled to see the project come to life and am proud to have been deeply involved in the entire process.
