David Shimmel

David is from southern New Hampshire where the close proximity of city and nature (ocean, mountains, and rivers) inspired him to pursue landscape architecture. He first joined Landworks Studio in 2014 after teaching for a year at the Ohio State University following the completion of his MLA degree. Early on, David worked on a range of project scales from a 200sf War Memorial in New Zealand to 0.5ac neighborhood park in Somerville to 200ac master plan for a new mixed-use development in Baltimore. Prior to rejoining Landworks Studio, David helped to lead the design and documentation efforts on a 330ac flood protection project in Toronto including the creation of a new river valley with wetlands, three new parks, and the reposition of existing transportation systems.
