West Chester University: Landscape Master Plan
West Chester, PA
The Master Plan Framework for West Chester University consists of both physical design and ecological principles intended to simplify and enrich the overall campus experience. The main design goal for this project was to transition from an automobile-centric campus towards one that prioritizes the pedestrian experience. Student social corridors are created, and others redefined, to provide opportunities for programmed and non-programmed activities. The landscape plan will seek to enhance the sustainable aspects of easy maintainability, stormwater handling, efficient lighting, durable materials, and robust planting.
The work of this Master Plan is the product of a 12-month process working interactively with University officials and staff, student groups, university ecologists, facilities team, campus sustainability experts, and a rounded consultant design team to generate a progressive Framework for reimagining the process by which the 21st-century campus can simultaneously expand and reinvent itself.
